Doctor Who and all i'ts Stars

Between seasons 5 & 6 of Doctor Who I am pretty sure Half of the actors from Downtown Abbey and a bunch of folks from Game of Thrones have guest starred on the show.

That said, I find it funny that I get super excited every time one of them comes on screen. Pretty sure I just yelled "Holy Crap it's Lord Grantham!" at my computer while watching the Black Spot episode of Doctor Who.

Mixed Feelings...

Today I watched two incredible videos, both beautiful in their own right.  The first one is a favorite of mine because I am a big fan of dance, and the visuals along with the music are absolutely fantastic.

Nuance from Marc-Antoine Locatelli on Vimeo.

This next one I must warn you contains some graphic imagery and violence, but tells a beautiful story with some fantastic art work.  I watched it this morning, and it has stuck with me emotionally for the rest of the day, I still have mixed feelings on it.

Carn - Jeff Le Bars from Jeff Le Bars on Vimeo.

Both are great videos, and I applaud the creators of both.  I love finding videos like this, because the level of creativity that people have, never ceases to amaze me.

What D&D Character Am I?

After answering almost 130 questions, I finally found out what D&D character I would be -

I Am A: Neutral Good Human Fighter (5th Level)

Ability Scores:
Strength-13
Dexterity-12
Constitution-16
Intelligence-11
Wisdom-15
Charisma-14

Alignment:
Neutral Good A neutral good character does the best that a good person can do. He is devoted to helping others. He works with kings and magistrates but does not feel beholden to them. Neutral good is the best alignment you can be because it means doing what is good without bias for or against order. However, neutral good can be a dangerous alignment when it advances mediocrity by limiting the actions of the truly capable.

Race:
Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like.

Class:
Fighters can be many things, from soldiers to criminal enforcers. Some see adventure as a way to get rich, while others use their skills to protect the innocent. Fighters have the best all-around fighting capabilities of the PC classes, and they are trained to use all standard weapons and armor. A fighter's rigorous martial training grants him many bonus feats as he progresses, and high-level fighters have access to special melee maneuvers and exotic weapons not available to any other character.

In this day of rememberance...

I remember exactly where I was this day 12 years ago.  I was still living with my parents, and early that morning my father woke me and my brothers up, only telling us to come into the living room quickly.  I was living in Las Vegas at the time, and my Father worked nights, so if he was up this early and wanted us awake it must be pretty important.

My brothers and I sleepily woke up and meandered into the living room, our TV was airing a news cast and banners of *Breaking News* were strewn all across the screen.  I was still a little groggy from waking getting up so quickly, but then everything came into focus and I realized what was going on.  I stood there staring at the screen in disbelief, mouth wide open, and pretty sure I was holding my breath.  Was I actually seeing this, or was I still asleep? Smoke billowing out of the Twin Towers and breaking news that a plane had crashed into the Pentagon. My first thought was "this is it, this is how the world ends" and "how could something like this happen".  I couldn't process everything and sat down on the couch and just stared, taking it all in.  Then the Tower collapsed...

That was 12 years ago.  Its amazing how much has changed since then, and how our country came together in this time of crisis.  I just wanted to take a moment in todays post and remember the brave women and men that risked their lives to save others,  and to those that protect and serve us every day, by saying "Thank You". Thank you for making this a country I am proud to live in, and a safe place to raise my children.  I will never forget that morning I woke up to a changed world.  I will never forget those that made such sacrifice.  I will never forget 9/11.

What to blog about...

To be honest I have no idea.  This is the reason I haven't so far, it's a combination of self doubt and lack of imagination.  Quite a bit has changed in the past 60 days, and it has kept me very busy with very few creative outlets recently.  So for the next few days i'm going to attempt to keep up with this blog and who knows, maybe I can make it a habit.  So lets discuss the past 60 days briefly to get everyone caught up.

Back in July I received an amazing opportunity that I almost passed up because it meant leaving Houston, TX and moving to San Antonio (not a bad drive but less than 3 weeks to make it happen)  Due to the encouragement of my lovely wife, I decided to take the leap and go for it.  In a whirlwind of boxes, packing materials, and one unruly animal filled trip, we finally made it to our new home in San Antonio.  This move was much different than my previous move from Las Vegas to Houston because we had my wife's family nearby as a "Safety Net" in case things didn't work out.  Well this move put us as strangers in a strange land, with no friends, no family and no  "Safety Net".  We were completely on our own.  This was both exciting and stressful, and a slew of other emotions but were here now and standing on our own, so far I consider this a success.

This brings us to today, with me sitting on my couch and re-writing this page 2/3/4 times over.  Even sitting here now on my couch, Tea in hand, and music pumping out of my earphones, I'm still waiting for the inspiration bug to bite me. Thats what these first couple of posts are for I guess, to get the ramblings out and get into a habit.  I do have some things that I would specifically like to cover, Craft Beer, Tech, Fatherhood.  I just downloaded an app called 'Lift' which I will talk about later, that will hopefully assist me with keeping a high frequency of posts.  I'm looking forward to this whole ordeal and i'm hoping that those of you reading this find it funny and entertaining, I know I will.

A moment of wisdom

Todays moment of Wisdom...

"Yoda:  ...A Jedi's strength flows from the Force.  But beware of the dark side.  Anger, fear, aggression; the dark side of the Force are they. Easily they flow, quick to join you in a fight...

Luke:  ...Is the dark side stronger?

Yoda:  No, no, no.  Quicker, easier, more seductive.

Luke:  But how am I to know the good side from the bad?

Yoda:  You will know... when you are calm, at peace, passive.  A Jedi uses the Force for knowledge and defense, never for attack...Already know you that which you need.

Luke: I don't believe it.

Yoda: That is why you fail."
